Qui sommes-nous?
Un plant de tomate à la fois est une organisation fondée sur le principe de collaboration, enracinée dans l’initiative communautaire, afin de soutenir le développement d’une réflexion au sujet des enjeux qui concernent la sécurité alimentaire et valoriser la production et l’accessibilité d’aliment frais dans les environs de Desmarchais –Crawford à Verdun. Notre mandat est de sensibiliser les gens à la problématique de l’empreinte écologique dans nos habitudes de consommation et leur donner le goût de mettre les mains dans la terre afin de produire localement des aliments sains.
Grâce au soutien financier des organismes Centraide et Alliances pour la solidarité (Ville-Mess 2013-2014) nous avons pu mener à bien nos activités. Cette année, Le Centre communautaire Dawson, Riverview Elementary School and Community Learning Centre et SouthWest United Church and Mission ont été les trois organismes partenaires pour l’avancement de ce projet.
Who we are
Un plant de tomate à la fois is a collaborative, community-based initiative focused on improving local access to fresh produce and encouraging healthy eating within the Desmarchais-Crawford neighbourhood of Verdun. It draws inspiration and support from the combined energies of the Dawson Community Centre, Riverview Elementary School and Community Learning Centre, South West United Mission.
The idea for the initiative came from the shared realization that the organizations were each working to create opportunities for residents to develop a better understanding and connection to food – where it comes from, how to grow it and how to prepare it. The founding member organizations recognized an opportunity to bring their individual projects together in order to enhance and sustain their efforts to facilitate the community’s transition toward celebrating local food and eating well together.
